Jermaine Jenas back on TV weeks after BBC sacking over text messages

by · NottinghamshireLive

Jermaine Jenas has been spotted on television for the first time since his BBC dismissal, attending Arsenal's clash with Liverpool on Sunday. The ex-Newcastle and England midfielder, aged 41, was released by the BBC in August after a controversy involving inappropriate texts to female colleagues.

Since then, he has maintained a low profile. However, Jenas did post a video on Instagram last month addressing the issue and hinting at a comeback to broadcasting.

It has now been revealed that the former One Show presenter was at Emirates Stadium this weekend, providing commentary for an international broadcaster during the high-stakes Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool. After retiring from football, Jenas smoothly transitioned into punditry, becoming a familiar face on the BBC and regularly appearing on Match of the Day and The One Show.

He was even considered a potential successor to Gary Lineker as MOTD host before the BBC announced his exit. A spokesperson for the BBC stated in August: "We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up."

Additionally, Jenas has featured on TNT Sports' Premier League coverage but hasn't been seen on their broadcasts since his departure from the BBC, reports the Mirror. In a recent video posted on social media, Jermaine Jenas hinted at new ventures on the horizon. Reflecting on his current situation, he said: "There's some exciting stuff that I've been working on. So hopefully you'll have that to look forward to very soon. And hopefully I'll be back just talking about what I love really, which is football. I've been living the life of those Spurs fans who've been up and down and up and down."

He also commented on Nottingham Forest's performance, noting: "Forest got a great result up at Anfield and have been playing well. So I've been watching but I'm looking forward to kind of getting back and just talking about what I love most. So last of all, thank you very much and, yeah, I'll see you soon."
