Nottingham Forest are showing signs of becoming an established Premier League side, according to pundit Ally McCoist.

Despite falling to their first defeat of the league campaign last weekend, it has been a fine start to the season for the Reds. Their 1-0 loss to Fulham at the City Ground ended their five-match unbeaten start to the league but they still sit 10th in the table.

Trying to thwart a Cole Palmer-inspired Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (2pm kick-off) is the next test for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. But given they have already triumphed at Liverpool this term, they will approach the game with no fear.

After successive relegation battles since their return to the top tier, Forest are keen to push on this time around. And McCoist is convinced they have the credentials to do so.

“Nottingham Forest are another of the teams that have impressed me most this season,” the former striker told talkSPORT BET. “They’ve picked up some brilliant results this season, including that win at Anfield.

“They’re beginning to look like a comfortable top-flight team. That should be their immediate aim.”

Ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis recently talked about the Reds targeting a return to Europe one day. However, head coach Nuno has consistently stated his players must not lose focus on the task in hand.

“All these things are great; expectations and ambitions, we are part of it,” the Portuguese has said. “But the best way, I believe, is to focus on the present. This way, you create a better future. It is as simple as that.”
