BBC Homes Under the Hammer's Dion Dublin shares rare photo of wife and daughter
by Ben Lyons, Bradley Jolly, Amy Jones, Ayeesha Walsh · NottinghamshireLiveHomes Under the Hammer star Dion Dublin has treated fans to a rare insight into his private life by sharing a charming photo of his wife and daughter during a family day out at the beach. The TV host and former Manchester United footballer, who usually keeps his home life away from the spotlight, took to Instagram to share the touching image.
Dion, 55, married Cheryl Dublin in 2017, and they have a daughter named Ruby Roseanne together. Despite his public profile, Dion often chooses to keep family times private, though he's been known to occasionally give a peek into their holiday trips or festive occasions.
In a heartwarming recent Instagram post, Dion showed off a happy scene with Cheryl and Ruby during a beach trip, with young Ruby donning a colourful bike helmet nestled in her father's arms. Dion humorously titled the post "Dublin Day Out! ", pairing it with emojis that playfully noted the nippy weather, reports the Mirror.
Followers were quick to shower love on the post, with one saying "Beautiful family" and another commenting "Awww what a lovely photo."
Dion, a family man through and through, spoke to the Mirror in 2018 about his perfect weekends, which he prefers to spend in the UK if the weather permits. He enjoys time away with his wife and dog, and when it comes to a Sunday treat, nothing beats a full English breakfast.
"My wife's a better cook than me by a million miles. She does most of the cooking as I'm out at work, and always makes sure I'm fed and watered," he said, lauding his wife's cooking prowess, according to OK! magazine. Tragedy struck Dion's close-knit family in July 2022 with the loss of his sister Carmen.
Mourning her passing, he expressed his grief on social media: "Yesterday we lost our amazing sister Carmen, the heartbeat and backbone to our family. Our hearts are truly broken, we will be lost without you."
This heartbreak came after Dion had spoken warmly of his family ties in an earlier interview with the Mirror, recalling cherished moments spent together. As the youngest of five siblings, Dion holds dear the legacy of his parents, both part of the Windrush generation from the West Indies.
His mother Rose was a committed district nurse, and his father Eddie, now in his 80s, once harboured dreams of becoming a professional footballer.
Before becoming a well-known face on TV, Dion enjoyed a successful career in the Premiership, playing for Manchester United, Coventry City and Aston Villa.
After hanging up his boots, he joined the presenting team on Homes Under the Hammer in 2015 and regularly appears as a pundit for Football Focus, Match of the Day and other BBC Sport shows.
