US: When Is The 2024 Presidential Election Result Expected?

The US Presidential race is said to be tight this time with Kamala Harris Vs Donald Trump.

Kamal Harris and Donald Trump each need at least 270 electoral votes to win, The swing states Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are expected to be crucial to the path of victory.

The first polls close at 18:00 EST on Tuesday, November 5th, and the last at 01:00 EST early on Wednesday, November 6th.

Usually, the victor will be revealed late on election night, or early next morning. Considering the tight race in many states, it could take longer than usual to project who has won.

Narrow victories could be required if there’s a half-percentage point difference between the votes cast for the winner and loser. Legal challenges, election-related disorder at polling stations, voter eligibility, and other scenarios also could affect in result delay.

In the last elections in 2020, US TV networks did not declare Joe Biden the winner until four days after election day, only when the result in Pennsylvania became clearer.
