A man was shot and killed in North York on Monday morning.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said officers responded to the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue area just before 7:30 a.m.

One male victim was located with gunshot wounds on the northwest corner of the intersection. TPS said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are actively working to determine when the shooting took place.

“We are investigating the possibility that the victim was shot in the early hours this morning,” Duty Insp. Todd Jocko said during an update later Monday morning.

Jocko did not reveal the victim’s exact age, but confirmed he’s an adult male. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds, he added.

No suspect information is available at this time, and investigators are appealing to the public for help.

“We’re asking anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time, or maybe even up to a couple of hours before [who] may have information on what transpired, to contact police,” a TPS spokesperson said.
