Woman stabbed in apparent random attack at Oakville GO station, arrest made

A woman is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed at Oakville GO station in an apparent random attack on Sunday afternoon.

Police sources told 680News Radio that the woman was at the GO station preparing to reload her PRESTO card when the accused stabbed her in the back in an unprovoked attack around 12:50 p.m.

Police said the woman’s condition is not life-threatening.

Authorities arrested a male suspect and said that he and the victim did not know each other.

Matthew Valley, 23, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted murder and breach of probation. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
