Players chasing the eFootball 24 achievements will likely start seeing the FIFA logo crop up in-game. It doesn't look like a new FIFA game is in the works like we got from EA Sports before the split, but FIFA has partnered with Konami for the FIFAe World Cup 24, an eSports event taking place on console and mobile.

Konami's eFootball will host the FIFAe World Cup 24

As announced on Konami's website, the company is collaborating with FIFA for the FIFAe World Cup 24, an official eSports competition kicking off this year. "In this inaugural tournament, participants representing 18 countries around the world will battle for supremacy," the announcement says. "The matches will be played 2v2 for the Console Category and 1v1 for the Mobile Category."

Qualifying rounds begin today and will run until October 17, and "everyone who plays eFootball is welcome to engage, so please update to the latest version of the game and challenge the world to an exciting global match." According to the announcement, even if you're not from one of the 18 nations participating in the competition, "you can still join the FIFAe World Cup 2024 by choosing your favorite country." The competition will culminate in a final bout sometime later this year.

Although FIFA hasn't had a licensed video game since EA decided to go its own way in 2022, it appears the company is still committed to getting its name seen in the eSports scene. Interestingly, the loss of FIFA's trademark doesn't seem to have affected EA's annual football game much at all, with EA Sports FC 25, which launched in September, currently holding the fifth spot on our Xbox Gameplay Chart — EA Sports FC 24 is in 14th. As for Konami's eFootball 24 (formerly PES), it's currently the 131st most-popular Xbox game according to our data, drastically trailing behind EA's offering.

EA Sport's FC does have the backing of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate behind it, and we usually see a new entry join our list of upcoming Game Pass games each year.
