Bonfire Night 2024: Weather forecast for Bristol this weekend

The skies over Bristol are set to light up this weekend as people head out to enjoy some fireworks displays ahead of Bonfire Night next Tuesday (November 5). But what sort of weather can you expect for the autumnal event?

Luckily, Met Office forecasts predict it is likely to stay "dry and settled" this weekend, so you don't have to worry about getting rained on while you're out watching the fireworks.

Chances of rain are five per cent or less throughout the weekend, with breezes also remaining gentle - the maximum wind speed is predicted to be just 15mph on Saturday evening.

Temperatures will feel quite chilly, however, so make sure to wrap up warm: on Friday evening, between 6pm and 9pm, it is forecast to be 13°C, and on Saturday evening, temperatures are estimated to drop to just 11°C by 9pm.

Forecasts also predict cloudy skies on Friday and Saturday evenings, and partly cloudy skies on Sunday evening, after some sun is expected to peek out on Sunday afternoon.

The Met Office summary for this weekend's forecast is as follows: "Largely dry with high pressure dominating. Though often cloudy with patchy light rain later in the week, some sunny spells developing too. Patchy fog returning overnight under clearer skies."

Meanwhile, looking further ahead into next week, and actual Bonfire Night on November 5, it is set to remain cloudy and cool, with daytime highs of 14°C, dropping to just 12°C by the evening.

Winds will remain gentle, at a maximum speed of just 13mph, although rain will become more likely on November 5, with a 20% chance at 6pm, dropping to a 10% chance by 9pm.

The long-range UK forecast, from November 3-12, predicts: "High pressure is likely to dominate the weather across many parts of the UK during this period. This will mean plenty of dry and settled weather through to the middle of November.

"Where skies clear overnight some areas of fog and frost are likely to develop. Southern areas are expected to be mainly dry during this period.

"Winds will likely be light in the south, but there could be some spells of strong winds across the north. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, although some cold nights are possible at times."
