Woman bitten and man injured in midday attack

A 36-year-old woman has been arrested

A man suffered a head injury after stepping in to intervene after a woman was allegedly assaulted and bitten in a midday attack in Bristol. The incident took place on Saturday, October 5, in Gatehouse Avenue, Hartcliffe.

Both the man and woman were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries. Police have confirmed a 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing actual bodily harm.

An appeal has now been launched by police for witnesses and footage.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "At about midday on Saturday, October 5, a woman was assaulted by another woman in Gatehouse Avenue, Hartcliffe. She suffered bruising and a bite injury.

"A man tried to intervene, but he was also assaulted and suffered an injury to his head. Both victims needed treatment at hospital.

"A 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing actual bodily harm, and she’s been released on conditional bail for enquiries to continue.
