Police Head Constable Killed, DySP, ASI Injured In Kathua Encounter, Operation On - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Sept 28: A head constable was killed even as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police were injured in the ongoing encounter in Billwar area of Kathua district.

Quoting an official news agency GNS reported that during the initial firefight, a head constable was killed and DySP operations and an assistant sub-inspector of Police were injured.

The injured were immediately evacuated to hospital for advanced treatment, where the condition of the DySP is said to be critical, said the official. He identified the injured DySP as Sukhbir Singh.

The operation in the area was on, he said.

This is the second gunfight to take place today. Earlier, two militants were killed, and four army personnel and a traffic police official were injured in another gunfight in south Kashmir’s Kulgam.
