Bengal resident likely killed in wild animal attack in Gangbug: Police - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 24: A non-local resident was found dead in the Ganbugh area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday.

However police said it looks like an incident of attack by a wild animal.

   

A police spokesperson said upon receiving information telephonically that the dead body of an unidentified male person is lying in the fields in Gangbugh area of district Srinagar, a police team from Police Station Batamaloo reached the spot and conducted the preliminary enquiry.

Preliminary investigation revealed the identification of the deceased as Mohd Zakir son of Mohd Jawadullah resident of Bengal.

He said that legal action under 194 BNSS stands initiated in Police Station Batamaloo to ascertain the cause of the death.

Prima-facie, it looks like an incident of attack by a wild animal, the spokesperson said.

He said the associates and family members of the deceased are being questioned, including his brother namely Mohd Javed who was residing with him in a rented accommodation at Gangbugh.

The spokesperson added that technical evidence including CCTV footage is being analysed, whie as further investigation into the case is going on.
