BSF assures robust anti-infiltration grid along LoC - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 26: Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav Saturday said that the anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC) remains robust and highly effective.

This assertion comes as security forces brace for an anticipated surge in infiltration attempts ahead of the winter season.

“The (infiltration) attempts increase before the winter, but the LoC grid is very strong with the coordination of the Army and we will ensure that any infiltration bid is thwarted,” Yadav told reporters here on the sidelines of the passing out parade.

Yadav’s comments follow a series of troubling terror incidents in Ganderbal and Gulmarg, which he described as unfortunate.

“The security forces are analysing the threats and taking measures to ensure they are not repeated in the future,” he said. “There are coordinated efforts of various security agencies in tackling these threats. We analyse the threats and try to ensure that such incidents do not take place in future.”

The recent attacks in Ganderbal and Gulmarg have heightened security concerns across J&K.

In Ganderbal, militants launched an assault that resulted in the tragic loss of seven lives, causing widespread fear and insecurity.

In the Gulmarg sector, an unexpected terror attack disrupted the peace, causing significant alarm and leading to increased security measures.

Both incidents have underscored the persistent threat posed by militant groups operating in and around Kashmir.

Security forces have since ramped up their vigilance, intensifying patrols and surveillance to pre-empt further attacks.

Earlier, a passing out parade and attestation ceremony for four recruit batches was held at the subsidiary training centre of the BSF here, marking the induction of 629 new recruits into the force.

Inspector General Yadav highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination in maintaining the integrity of the LoC.
