Halle Bailey and DDG attend the Recording Academy Honors presented by The Black Music Collective during the 66th GRAMMY Awards on February 01, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.

In news that can only be described as “girl we saw this coming from a mile away,” Halle Bailey and her rapper boyfriend DDG have reportedly decided to part ways. But everything may not be what it seems.

If this news comes as a surprise to you—then it really shouldn’t. As we told you back in April, signs have been pointing to the two’s eventual split for awhile now. At the time, DDG admitted to messaging another woman during an argument he and the “Do It” singer were having a while back for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of her. Prior to that, he infamously released a song that seemingly shaded his girlfriend’s success during the height of her “Little Mermaid” press and promo. That song only preceded his online trolling and tweets on X/Twitter which caused an uptick in people disliking him for his alleged weirdness towards the woman he claimed to love.

Now, in an official Instagram story post sent on Thursday, the rapper made it clear that he and Halle have officially split. Photos of the two together have also been removed from their respective pages.

“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he began. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.”

He went on to say that although their relationship dynamic has changed, they’re still best friends and will move forward as co-parents to their nearly one-year-old son, Halo.

“We cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared. As we navigate this transition, we ask for your understanding and support. Thank you for your love and encouragement,” he concluded.

And while this message may sound simple and sweet, let folks online tell it—it’s just another ploy for attention as a part of DDG’s history of trolling on the internet. And if you needed further proof of that, take into consideration the fact that this statement only has the rapper’s name on it and not Halle’s. In fact, the “Angel” singer has been virtually silent since the news dropped. When Victoria Monet and her boyfriend broke up last month, they signed off on their joint statement together. When Lori Harvey and Damson Idris broke up, they put out a joint statement on their respective social media pages as well. So it’s very suspicious that Halle isn’t included on this.

Regardless of whether or not this breakup is real, many took to social media to express their happiness for Halle finally letting go of her bad boyfriend:

“HALLE AND DDG BROKE UP EVERYBODY GET UP,” wrote one user on X/Twitter accompanied by a video of a cheering crowd.

“Tbh this is perfect timing. Halle could replace that DDG and Halo wouldn’t even know the difference,” said another.

“HALLE FINALLY WOKE UP ALL DDG DID WAS EMBARRASS HER,” another user wrote.

“Halle had DDG baby and stood by him despite all the social media scrutiny she got out of it and he CHEATED ON HER?? MEN AlN’T SHlT,” another lamented.

Others let their skepticism out:

“Tl celebrating ddg and halle break up but what are you all gonna do when he announces it was a publicity stunt tomorrow???,” said one person.

“Yall believing ddg and halle broke up fr? the man is a youtuber ITS A PRANK,” another wrote.

Hopefully the truth will reveal itself in due time.
