A man in his 50s has died after he was struck by a lorry in Dublin city centre on Friday.

The incident happened at the junction of Arran Quay and Church Street shortly after 3pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed, and traffic diversions are in place as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene.

The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.
