Youth stoned to death, claims wife in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district

Dhenkanal: A youth was stoned to death by miscreants in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. It was claimed by his wife, who was also present at the crime spot, according to her. The incident took place in Rupabeda village under Kankadahada police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Gagan Naik of Rupabeda village.

According to the information, Gagan was working as a laborer in the stone quarry. Yesterday evening, Gagan was returning from work with his wife to his village Rupabeda when he was stopped by some miscreants near the bridge at the end of the village.

They wanted to loot and as the man opposed he was stoned to death by the miscreants in front of his wife. His wife was also attacked and beaten while the miscreants tore her blouse. However, she somehow managed to save herself and informed about it to her family.

The family members immediately admitted Gagan to Kamakhyanagar hospital. Gagan died there while undergoing treatment.

On the basis of the complaint, the Kankadahar police reached the Kamakhyanagar hospital and seized the body.

It is unclear why Gagan was stoned to death and who killed him. No arrest had been made in this case till the news was written.
