Daughter held hostage, woman sexually assaulted in Bhubaneswar during theft bid in apartment
by Sudeshna Panda · KalingaTVBhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman was sexually assaulted in Bhubaneswar while her daughter was held hostage at their apartment in Maitree Vihar area, said reports on Wednesday.
The incident allegedly took place in the wee hours of Monday. The victim lodged an FIR in the Maitree Vihar police station. The incident has shocked the local residents of the area. Questions have been raised on the safety of women in the capital city of Odisha.
Reports say that, the woman woke up at around 2 am and whent o the bathroom upon returning she spotted two thieves in the bedroom. Before she could raise an alarm, the miscreants allegedly pointed a knife at her and held her daughter hostage. They then allegedly raped the woman at knife point.
They looted her mobiles and the gold earring that she was wearing, before leaving they allegedly returned the SIM card to her. It is worth mentioning here that the apartment does not have a CCTV camera. A police investigation has been initiated in this regard. Detailed reports awaited.
