20 injured, 14 of them critical as passenger bus hits pick up van in Odisha’s Gajapati district

Mohana: In a tragic incident, as many as 20 persons sustained injury out of which 14 are critical as a passenger bus met an accident after colliding with a pick up van in Gajapati district of Odisha. The accident took place in the Kendu ghati near Liligarh under Mohana Police Station limits in the district yesterday night at about 1 am.

As per reports, the Sri Jagannath express bus collided with a pick up van and fell in a 20 feet deep gorge after overturning. Accordingly, 20 passengers of the bus have sustained injury. Out of them health condition of 14 is critical.

Out of the critical patients, 4 have been shifted to MKCG Medical in Berhampur. All the injured persons were first rushed to Mohana hospital. However the critical patients were then shifted to Berhampur.

All the injured persons are from Malkangiri. The bus was going to Malkangiri from Bhubaneswar. It also hit another passenger bus named Kaleswar travels and then hit the pick up from rear side and fell into the gorge.

After getting information, Mohana Police rushed to the spot, sent the injured persons to hospital and initiated investigation. Further probe of the case is underway.
