Blind parents in Hyderabad didn't realise son had died, lived with body for days

An elderly and visually impaired couple in Hyderabad lived with the body of their deceased son for days, not knowing he had died. The incident was discovered only after the neighbours called police telling them of foul smell coming from the house.

An elderly and visually impaired couple in Hyderabad lived with the body of their deceased son for days, not knowing he had died.

The incident was discovered only after the neighbours dialled emergency and notified the police of a strong stench coming from the house in Blinds Colony, Nagole.

The police arrived at the site on Monday to find the couple, said to be in their 60s, in a semi-conscious state, along with the body of their 30-year-old son.

The police suspect the son died in his sleep a few days ago. His body was taken to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact date and cause of the death, the police said. A case was also registered in this regard.

According to Rachakonda Police Station House Officer Surya Nayak, the parents, who were unable to see, and were unaware of their son’s death, kept calling him for food and water but didn’t get any response.

The police rescued the couple, provided the husband and wife with food and water before contacting their elder son, who lived in a different part of the city.
