Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s latest collaboration, Thandel, has secured an official release date. The action-drama, directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Bunny Vas under the Geetha Arts banner, will release in theatres on February 7, 2025. The film has already sparked high expectations as it marks the second collaboration between the lead pair after the success of Love Story.
The film casts Naga Chaitanya as a fisherman leader who navigates the rugged challenges of coastal life, a character inspired by real-life incidents in coastal communities. Sai Pallavi, known for her emotional depth and impactful performances, is expected to bring her unique intensity to the film, creating a fresh dynamic with Chaitanya. Fans are particularly excited to see Naga Chaitanya in a unique role as a fisherman, with a story involving cross-border themes between India and Pakistan.
The makers of Thandel organized a press meet to announce the global release date as February 7, 2025. During the event, director Chandoo Mondeti shared updates on the production, mentioning that the final shooting schedule is nearing its completion. Following this, the team will embark on full-fledged promotions and finalise post-production work.
Naga Chaitanya underwent extensive training for his role as a fisherman in this ambitious film, which is being mounted as the most significant project of his career in terms of scale. After the positive reception of his web series Dhootha, Chaitanya committed fully to Thandel and has not taken on any new projects since. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi, his co-star, recently appeared in the Tamil film Amaran, which also starred Sivakarthikeyan and has been well-received by audiences and critics alike.
