Actor Jr NTR, director Prashanth Neel's NTR 31 to be a standalone film: Report

Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel are teaming up for NTR 31, an action drama set to be a standalone film, breaking the trend of multipart film series. Rukmini Vasanth of Sapta Sagaradache Ello fame is rumoured to play the female lead.

Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel are collaborating for NTR 31. Contrary to Neel's filmmaking style, it is being reported that the action drama will be a standalone film, with no plans for sequels or prequels.

With that, both Neel and Jr NTR will be deviating from the trend of multipart film series. Neel’s previous project, KGF and Salaar, and Jr NTR’s recent release Devara: Part 1 are all series. While a third part will be made for KGF, the second parts of Salaar and Devara are also in the pipeline.

The shoot for NTR 31 is expected to commence by the end of October or the first week of November in Hyderabad, with Jr NTR joining the sets later, between January and February 2025. Actor Rukmini Vasanth of Sapta Sagaradache Ello fame is rumored to play the female lead, although neither she nor the makers have confirmed it. The film is slated for release on January 9, 2026, with production houses Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts backing the project.

It has also been reported that NTR 31 will be a gritty, action-packed entertainer, much in line with Neel's directorial style. Given the box-office success of Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1, which was released recently, and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, which hit the theatres on December 22, 2023, this project is also generating significant buzz.

Jr NTR will next be seen in YRF Spy Universe’s War 2, which also stars Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani. It is slated to release on August 14, 2025.
