Five killed as car falls into gorge in Himachal's Mandi

Five people, including a teenager, were killed after their Maruti car plunged into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district. The accident occurred late Saturday night, as the men were returning home from a wedding ceremony in Barot.

The car fell approximately 700 meters down a steep incline, where a shepherd spotted it early Sunday morning. Local villagers were alerted, and representatives from the panchayat informed the police at the Tikkan station.

Efforts are underway with the help of locals to retrieve the bodies.

The dead have been identified as Rajesh, Gangu, Karn, Sagar, and Ajay. One of them was around 16 years old, while the others were between 25 and 30 years old.

The bodies will be taken to Jogindernagar Civil Hospital for a postmortem before being handed over to the families. Mandi's Superintendent of Police stated that a case has been filed and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
