The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi two weeks ago, provides free health coverage to all seniors over 70, regardless of their income.
This initiative was approved by the Union Cabinet in September.
The card offers an additional benefit on top of the existing AB PM-JAY family scheme, giving seniors a separate health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.
WHAT IS THE AYUSHMAN VAYA VANDANA CARD?
The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card offers universal health coverage for all senior citizens over the age of 70, with no income restrictions.
This means that all elderly individuals, whether from low-income, middle-class, or high-income backgrounds, can access free hospital treatment through this card.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE AYUSHMAN VAYA VANDANA CARD ON MOBILE
Here’s a simple guide to enrolling through the National Health Authority (NHA) mobile app:
- Download the Ayushman App
- Log in as Beneficiary
- Enter Details: Complete the Captcha, enter your mobile number, choose your preferred authentication method, and submit the Captcha again to log in.
- Provide Beneficiary and Aadhaar Details
- If no record is found, start the eKYC process and give consent for OTP verification.
- Complete Application: Agree to the declaration, capture a photo, and fill out the additional required details.
- Enter your Mobile Number and OTP
- Add Personal Details: Enter details like category and PIN code.
- Add Family Members' Details and Submit
- Complete eKYC: After approval, you can download your Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card.
