India captain Rohit Sharma has told his side to back their potential as the 10-Test run starts with the match against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19, Thursday. India will be facing Bangladesh and New Zealand in 5 Tests at home before heading to Australia for the 5-match Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting from November. In the Chennai Test, Bangladesh had won the toss and opted to field first.

Rohit, at the toss, said that India would have opted to bowl first as well given the challenging conditions on offer in Chennai. The India captain said that the team has prepared well and they would look to play the way they know. Rohit said that each match would be important in the upcoming 10 Tests and they want to focus on what lies ahead of them.

The India captain said that the team felt confident heading into the match.

"I would have done that as well (bowl first). Little soft, the pitch. It's going to be challenging conditions. We have prepared well, so we should back our potential and play the way we know. Looking at the 10 Test matches, every match is important. But we want to focus on what lies in front of us. We came here a week back, we had a good prep leading up to this one. We feel confident. Three seamers and two spinners - Bumrah, Akash Deep, Siraj, Ashwin and Jadeja," said Rohit.
