Redmi A4 to launch in India this month, priced under Rs 10,000: What to expect

Xioami sub-brand Redmi is set to launch its new entry-level smartphone-- Redmi A4 -- in India this month. According to recent reports, the Redmi A4 will be the company's first 5G smartphone priced below Rs 10,000. Unveiled during IMC 2024, the phone will pack Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. As the company revealed the phone, Xiaomi India president Muralikrishnan B also said that the phone will arrive by the end of the year. But the rumour has it that it is coming in late November. Redmi A4: Specs and features

The Redmi A4 5G is still awaiting its India release, despite being revealed weeks ago at IMC 2024. The phone showcases a round, glossy camera module on the back, a design that echoes the Redmi A3 (4G) but with a shinier finish. Its frame is flat, with the volume and power buttons located on the right. The A3 model had a fingerprint sensor integrated into its power button, so it's possible the A4 could follow suit. A 3.5mm headphone jack is positioned on the top edge of the phone.

At the demonstration, two colour options—black and silver—were shown. Rumoured specs include a 6.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. For cameras, the device may offer a 50-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera. Powering the phone could be a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 18W wired charging, an upgrade over the 10W charger on the A3.

Under the hood, the A4 5G could feature the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, introduced in July 2024. This octa-core processor, built on Samsung's 4nm architecture, has two Cortex-A78 cores running up to 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.8GHz. It’s compatible with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, providing a robust foundation for performance.

Redmi A4: Price

During the IMC 2024, the company revealed that the Redmi A4 will be the first entry-level 5G phone, which will feature a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. It will be priced below Rs 10,000. Further details are expected to be disclosed during the launch. It is speculated to come in a single configuration, featuring 4GB RAM coupled with 128GB of storage.

In a similar advancement, Xiaomi is also eyeing to launch another smartphone, the Redmi Note 14 series. This phone is expected to launch in India in December. The standrd variant is expected to pack a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, 5110mAh battery, 45W fast charging speed, a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED panel, a 50-megapixel main camera, and Android 14-based HyperOS.
