India captain Suryakumar Yadav was delighted with his men for "walking the talk" in terms of executing whatever was decided at the team meeting after a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the opening T20I on Sunday. The bowling duo of Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy was instrumental in dismantling Bangladesh’s batting lineup, reducing the visitors to a modest total of 127. Arshdeep and Chakravarthy took three wickets each, putting India in the driver’s seat from the start.

India’s batting lineup, led by Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, then made quick work of the chase, reaching the target in just 11.5 overs. Samson and Suryakumar both contributed 29 runs, while Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten with a commanding 39 to finish off the match.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Suryakumar praised the team’s ability to stick to the plans discussed before the match. "We just tried to back our skills and what we decided in the team meeting, we just walked the talk. The way we batted, showed our character," he said.

Suryakumar also lauded the new talents in the team, particularly the country’s fastest bowler, Mayank Yadav, and seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Reddy. Both players have been fast-tracked into the national setup, and their captain was enthusiastic about their potential impact in future games.

"Very excited and looking forward to seeing them in the next games. It's a good headache to have when you are on the field, having extra bowling options," Suryakumar remarked, signaling India’s growing depth in the squad.

Despite the dominant performance, Suryakumar emphasized the importance of continued improvement. While he didn’t delve into specific areas of concern, the skipper indicated that the team would evaluate their performance and make necessary adjustments ahead of the second T20I in Delhi on Wednesday.

India, crowned T20 champions earlier this year, once again proved why they hold that title, delivering an all-round performance that left Bangladesh little room to maneuver. With debutants shining and the experienced players holding their own, the future looks bright for Indian cricket as they head into the remainder of the series.
