Suresh Raina has hailed Shubman Gill as a superstar and claimed that he should be the next in line to become India's next T20I captain. Gill was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the white-ball teams with Suryakumar Yadav becoming the new T20I captain. The star batter was given the job to lead India in the T20I series against Zimbabwe and he was able to win the series 4-1.

Gill was also given the captaincy of GT in the IPL and also led the India A team during the first round match of the Duleep Trophy. Speaking to PTI, Raina felt that people up top rate the young batter highly and if he is able to do well in the IPL and win the title, he could be next in line to become the new T20I captain of India.

"Shubman Gill is a super star. Gill is vice captain. It means someone is thinking about him. If he does well in the IPL and win the trophy, he is the future (captain). He will be the next super star," said Raina.

Gill and India's immediate assignment will be the Test series against Bangladesh at home. Raina pointed out to Bangladesh's historic Test series win in Pakistan and said it would be interesting to see how the Indian batters will tackle the Bangladesh spinners.

"Bangladesh have done well against Pakistan. They have got good spinners, it will be interesting to see how the Indians bat against them," said Raina.

Raina would also discuss about the upcoming IPL retentions with the BCCI and the governing council of the tournament set to take a call on the matter. Ambati Rayudu had called for more retentions and Raina agreed to this. The former CSK star said that the mega auction should be every three years and expects the IPL Governing council to make the right call.

"I 100 percent agree with Rayudu. The mega auction should be every three years. The IPL Governing Council will do what is best for the game," said Raina.
