New Zealand have the upper hand going into Day 5 of their opening Test against Rohit Sharma’s India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Chasing a target of 107, the Black Caps can be said to have the upper hand with Devon Conway and Tom Latham as the overnight batters.

The Black Caps bowled India out for 46 in their first innings after which they amassed a huge lead of 356 runs. But then Sarfaraz Khan’s 150 and Rishabh Pant’s 99 bailed the home team out from a precarious position. India scored 462 in their second Test and gave the Kiwis a modest, but tricky target to track down in the fourth innings.

New Zealand fast bowler William O’Rourke said that the Kiwis need to be on their toes and can’t afford to be complacent in their run-chase.

"I wouldn't say it's an easy win from here. We've got a world-class team going up against us. But we've got to be confident going out there tomorrow. "Hopefully, for our sake the rain stays away and we get a chance to have a crack at it," O’Rourke said in the press conference.

However, weather could well spoilsport with both teams having a chance to come up trumps. After the first day’s play was washed off entirely due to rain, inclement weather kept halting proceedings throughout. For the fifth day, the weather doesn’t look pleasant either.

Here’s how the weather forecast is for Day 5 of the Bengaluru Test

Weather conditions will be gloomy throughout the duration of the fifth day. The sun will hardly be out with clouds hovering over the venue. There are chances of thunderstorms at around 9 and 10 am, which means that the start of the play might be delayed, and then at 3 PM.

Temperatures will be around the 25-degree Celsius mark. Conditions will be very humid with the numbers in the 60s and 70s. Wind gusts of 9 km/h will be there. Ground-staff at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium have their task cut out on another day when rain is likely to play hide and seek.
