Man throws acid on wife's face after she discovers his affair, asks for divorce

A 34-year-old man attacked his wife in Mumbai by throwing acid in her face after she found out about his affair and asked for divorce from him. The incident happened in the Malvani area, following which the woman, 27, was rushed to the Cooper hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment for severe burns.
The couple had a love marriage in 2019, but soon after, the woman discovered that her husband was unemployed, addicted to drugs, and involved in an extramarital affair. These issues led her to seek a divorce.
For the past three months, the woman had been staying with her mother in Malad. On Wednesday (September 25) morning, her husband forcibly entered her mother's residence and threw a corrosive substance at her, causing serious injuries.
Following her complaint, the police registered a case against the husband under multiple sections of the Bharitya Nayaya Sanhita (BNS), including 124(2) (Voluntarily causing hurt by use of acid), 311 (Robbery or dacoity with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 333 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
