The Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru received a bomb threat via email on Saturday morning. It caused the sniffer dogs and the bomb squad to be called to the spot. However, after a thorough investigation, a top police official said that the bomb threat was a hoax.
The hotel, known for hosting prominent politicians and cricketers, received the threat earlier in the day, following which local police and the bomb squad were rushed to the scene.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (central), HT Shekhar said, "A bomb threat e-mail was received by the staff of Taj West End Hotel. The BDDS and team checked the premises and found it to be a hoax threat email."
A complaint has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Notably, three hotels in Bengaluru, including a five-star hotel received bomb threats in May this year. The bomb threats come months after a blast at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe shocked the city. At least nine people were injured in the incident.
