In a plot twist that left the internet stunned, a woman who goes by the username ‘SAH Fragrance Mama’ on social media shared a letter she received from her husband that seemed to announce some serious news – until it took an unexpected turn.

The woman shared the letter in separate posts on X and Instagram with the caption: “Ladies, choose yourself. I woke up to this nonsense after 11 years of marriage." The post has since gone viral on social media with over 30 million views so far on X.

The letter, addressed to her by her husband Fred, starts with a heartfelt tone:

“Dear wife, Let me start this off by saying that I Love You dearly. You mean the world to me. However, I owe it to myself as well as you to be completely honest with you.”

“I have to come forward with my truth. I hate to do it this way but it's now or never because what I'm about to say has to be said,” Fred said in the letter.

From there, readers braced themselves for what looked like a confession. But Fred’s “truth” turned out to be his dedication to something else entirely: the New York Knicks’ season opener.

“Tonight on October 22, 2024, marks opening night for the New York Knicks 24-25 season. I will be watching the game tonight,” the letter read.

Fred went on to detail his plan to completely ignore his family for the night as he watched his beloved basketball team take on the Boston Celtics.

He firmly declared that from 7pm onwards, he would "not be a husband or father" – just a die-hard Knicks fan.

“That means from 7pm (that's when pre-game starts), to whatever time the game ends, I will not be a husband or a father. Y'all are on your own for a couple of hours,” Fred said.

He added, “No, I will not watch our shows with you. No, I will not get you something sweet. I will not take the dog out. I will not get the kid in bed either. I will sit on my couch, drink in hand and I will watch the game. That's it. “

Fred’s humorous approach didn’t stop there. His letter closed with strict instructions about their child’s bedtime, as he mentioned that only those willing to watch the game with him could stay up late.

“P.S. The child may stay up past bedtime only if he watches the game with me. If he doesn't want to watch then off to bed with him. Thanks,” Fred said.

His wife’s reaction? “I won’t even lie, he had me nervous at first, then I laughed so hard, this made my morning,” she shared in a follow-up post.

Social media, naturally, had a lot to say. “Not gonna lie, I was NOT expecting that it had me going the first half. Kudos to you both for having a fun marriage and messing with each other," a user said.

Another user added, “You could have given me a million guesses on how that letter would end, and I still wouldn’t have seen this coming.”
