Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly, who was accused of sexual assault, was absolved of the charges today, November 6. The complainant, who is a resident of Kerala's Neriamangalam, had alleged that Pauly sexually assaulted her in Dubai under the guise of offering her a role in a film in November 2023.

In the inquiry into the allegations, it was conclusively established that he was absent from the specified location on the date and time of the purported incident. As a result, Nivin Pauly, named as the sixth accused in this case, has been formally absolved of all charges. This was meticulously detailed in a report filed by DYSP Kothamangalam with the First Class Magistrate Court.

The case came into the limelight in September, when the complainant brought her complaint to the attention of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), a unit established following the release of the Hema Committee report, which addresses issues of sexual misconduct in the film industry. The SIT subsequently notified the Oonnukal police, leading to the registration of the case.

Nivin Pauly addressed the allegations at a press conference and said, "An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against me. I will fight it legally. I am willing to go to any lengths to prove my innocence as such fake allegations can be made against anyone. I am speaking for all of them. If I don't, such incidents will continue to happen." Calling it a conspiracy, Nivin added that he didn't know the woman nor had he spoken to her. He admitted that he knew one of the people mentioned in the FIR.
