In Short

  • UPSC postpones ESE 2025 exams to June and August 2025
  • Application deadline extended until November 22
  • Indian Railway Management Service recruitment through UPSC ESE

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially postponed the Engineering Services Examination or the UPSC ESE 2025, delaying both the prelims and mains exams.

Candidates now have additional time to prepare, as the new exam dates are set for June 8, 2025, for the prelims and August 10, 2025, for the mains.

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED

With the change in exam dates, UPSC has also extended the UPSC ESE application deadline. Aspirants who haven't applied yet can now register until November 22 through the official website, upsc.gov.in.

Additionally, the Commission will reopen the application edit window once the registration process concludes, allowing candidates to make necessary changes.

WHY THE EXAMS WERE DELAYED

This year, the government has introduced a significant update: recruitment for the Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS) will now happen through both the Civil Services Examination and the UPSC ESE.

The UPSC noted, "The Government has decided that the recruitment to the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) will be made both through the Civil Services Examinations (for Traffic, Accounts, and Personnel Sub-cadres) and ESE (for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication, and Stores Sub-cadres)."

To accommodate this change and give candidates more time to prepare, UPSC decided to push back the exam dates.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ASPIRANTS

The postponement gives aspirants additional time to focus on their studies and refine their preparation strategies.

With the extended application window and new exam dates, candidates should make the most of this opportunity to better equip themselves for the competitive exam ahead.
