  • Not many know that he once produced a Bollywood film titled Aetbaar
  • The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu in key roles

Other than being an industrialist, Ratan Tata was a movie enthusiast as well. Interestingly, few people know that the 86-year-old esteemed industrialist co-produced a Bollywood film in 2004. He was involved in producing Aetbaar, a romantic psychological thriller directed by Vikram Bhatt, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, and Bipasha Basu.

Ratan Tata co-produced the film with Jatin Kumar. Aetbaar was inspired by the 1996 Hollywood movie Fear. It was produced under the banner of Tata BSS. The film delved into themes of obsession and familial relationships, exploring the dark side of romantic fixation.

However, despite a promising star cast and significant buzz around the film’s release, Aetbaar struggled at the box office, grossing just Rs 7.96 crore against a production budget of Rs 9.50 crore. This film remains the only one ever produced by Ratan Tata.

Aetbaar also failed to win over critics, with many criticizing the film for its cliched dialogue and overused themes.

The news of his death left a huge void in the world of business. Political leaders, the business community and several personalities across the globe offered their condolences.

He will be given a state funeral by the Maharashtra government and being a Parsi, his last rites will be conducted according to the rituals followed by the community.
