Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was over the moon after Barcelona handed Real Madrid a crushing 4-0 defeat in the La Liga El Classico on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu. Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha made sure that Barcelona lost for the first time in the championship after 42 games.

Lewandowski set the tone after he opened the account with a goal in the 54th minute, after which he took Barcelona to a 2-0 with another goal in the 56th minute. 17-year-old Lamine Yamal scored in the 77th minute before Raphinha finished it by scoring in the 84th minutes.

Flick expressed his delight with a victory that capped off an incredible week for Barca, during which they decisively defeated two European giants. This included their commanding 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

‘We are sticking to our idea’

"I'm delighted to be working at Barcelona and to live in Barcelona. It's a fantastic job, I'm very happy... We have played a fantastic game and I am so proud," Flick said in a press conference.

"We pressed better with and without the ball. We had more possession and that's why the game changed. The defensive effort was key. We have trained a lot how to defend with a high line and on how we want to press on the ball. It's also important not to leave spaces when you play Real Madrid because they have incredible players,” Flick said.

"I think we are doing well. We are sticking to our idea and right now we are fluid, and we want to move forward,” Flick added.

Barcelona are sitting on top of the table with 30 points thanks to wins in 10 out of 11 matches in the ongoing La Liga. Barcelona will next lock horns with Espanyol on November 3.
