4 Kanwariyas die after vehicle hits them in Bihar

A vehicle hit four Kanwariyas in Bihar's Banka district, killing them, while 11 others were injured. A probe was on to determine the cause of the accident.

Four Kanwariyas were killed after a vehicle ran over them when they were heading to a temple in Bihar's Banka district on Friday night, while 11 others sustained injuries, officials said.

The accident occurred when the Kanwariyas were en route to Jast Gaur Nath Mahadev temple after taking Gangajal (holy water of Ganga) from Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district, according to news agency ANI.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Avinash Kumar said the bodies were sent for post-mortem and an investigation would be initiated over the cause of the accident.

"We immediately reached the spot. Around 10-11 people have been injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment. Four people have died. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The situation is peaceful and the administration is cooperating fully. We will investigate the cause of the incident," Kumar said.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bipin Bihari said police were present at the spot.

"Some Kanwariyas were hit by a vehicle and four people have died. There were some law and order issues initially, but the situation is normal. Police are present at the spot," he said.
