The Mahagathbandhan (opposition alliance) in Bihar announced its candidates for byelections on four seats scheduled for November 13. The last day of filing of nominations is October 25 and the results will be announced on November 23. These Assembly seats had fallen vacant after MLAs representing them were elected in the Lok Sabha election as MPs.

The four seats where bypolls would be held are Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj, and Imamganj.

The grand alliance fielded RJD candidate Ajit Kumar Singh from the Ramgarh Assembly seat. RJD leader Vishwanath Yadav has been fielded from Belaganj, CPI(ML) candidate Raju Yadav from Tarari and Roshan Kumar Manjhi alias Rajesh Manjhi has been fielded from the Imamganj Assembly constituency.

In this byelection, the Jan Suraaj Party, founded by Prashant Kishor, would also plunge into the battlefield "to test its electoral-political strength".

The NDA named its candidates for two out of four Assembly seats. The BJP has fielded former MLA Ashok Kumar Singh from Ramgarh and Vishal Prashant from Tarari.

Singh has been fielded by the BJP from a seat he won in 2015 but lost five years later to RJD candidate Sudhakar Singh. Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Prashant, a greenhorn from the Tarari Assembly seat.
