  • Sajid pulled off the celebration after dismissing Harry Brook
  • England trailed by 127 runs at Stumps on Day 2

Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan bagged the limelight with his unique celebration in the second Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium. After the hosts lost the first Test by an innings, Pakistan brought in Sajid, Zahid Mahmood, Noman Ali and Kamran Ghulam in place of Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Sajid had an impressive outing on Day 2, keeping Pakistan in the game. At Stumps on the second day, he had figures of 19-1-86-4 as England trailed by 127 runs in their first innings with six wickets in hand. As far as his celebration is concerned, it was reminiscent of Shikhar Dhawan, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Harry Brook was in the form of his life and hitting a triple hundred in the opening Test, but he failed to make an impact in the second Test. Batting at No.5, Brook could only score nine runs at a run-a-ball before Sajid rattled his woodwork.

Sajid bowled one on the off-stump and got the ball to turn back sharp. Brook tried to play a cut shot through the off-side, but only saw his stumps rattled. Thereafter, Sajid erupted in joy and brought out the thigh-five celebration. The cameraman also imitated Dhawan’s celebration.

Barring Ben Duckett, none of the English batters could get a big score. Duckett looked fluent in his knock, scoring 114 runs off 129 balls with 16 fours before Sajid dismissed him.

Sajid also got support from left-arm spinner Noman Ali, who picked up the wickets of Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes to finish with figures of 21-4-75-2. While the spin duo of Noman and Sajid succeeded, Zahid failed to make a breakthrough.

Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse, the overnight batters, would want to reduce the first-innings deficit for England to make a comeback.
