A 30-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a speeding Mercedes driven by a drunk 20-year-old in Bengaluru's Kengeri area. The driver, Dhanush, attempted to flee but was caught by bystanders and arrested by the police.

In Bengaluru's Kengeri, 30-year-old Sandhya was fatally struck by a speeding Benz on Saturday evening. The car was driven by 20-year-old Dhanush, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred when Sandhya attempted to cross the road, and Dhanush, who had consumed alcohol beyond permissible limits, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal collision.

After the accident, the accused tried to flee the spot, but was caught by bystanders who allegedly also thrashed him. Dhanush was then arrested by the Kengeri traffic police and has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Dhanush's father, who owns a private bus travel company, was identified as Veera Shiva.

"We have apprehended the accused immediately, and he has been sent to judicial custody," said the DCP of Traffic West, confirming the police's quick action in the case.

As per reports, Dhanush’s father had bought the luxury car recently, and Dhanush took the vehicle and headed to a mall near Yeshwanthpur with a friend for a few drinks. The accident occurred when the two decided to go to Mysuru Road for a long drive after getting drunk.

In another hit-and-run incident, a 26-year-old delivery boy who was on his way to pick up his wife from KG Nagar on his bike was killed after a speeding car rammed into his bike. The incident occurred at 10.20 pm on Saturday, November 2 on MV Seetharamaiah Road in Gavipura.
