The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) will end the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) tomorrow, September 26, 2024 on the official website. Applicants who have still not applied for the same can check and apply for the same, without any delays.

As per the released schedule this year, the exam will be held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, and will be conducted in a computer-based format (CBT) across eight zones. Results are expected to be released on March 19, 2025, and the scores will remain valid for three years.

EXAM FORMAT AND PATTERN

The exam will offer 30 papers, allowing candidates to select one or two papers from the available combinations. The test duration is three hours, with a mixture of question types, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs), for which negative marking applies. For each wrong answer in a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 of a mark will be deducted, and for a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 of a mark will be deducted.

ELIGIBILTIY CRITERIA

Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying. Students in their third year or higher of an undergraduate program, or those who have completed a government-approved degree in fields like Engineering, Science, Commerce, or Humanities, are eligible to apply.

The GATE exam evaluates candidates' knowledge in undergraduate disciplines and serves as a gateway to Master's and Doctoral programmes, often with financial aid. Additionally, GATE scores are widely used for recruitment by various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and educational institutions.
