A Circle Inspector (CI) M Ravi Kumar from Khajipet in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following allegations of attempting to rape a 16-year-old minor girl. The incident reportedly took place when the victim was home alone.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), the Circle Inspector, currently stationed in Hyderabad, encountered a minor girl from his apartment complex talking with a classmate in the corridor. He approached them and asked the classmate to leave before inviting the girl to his flat.

Once inside, the officer, who was alone, allegedly attempted to pull her into the bedroom. Fortunately, the girl managed to escape his grasp. Following the incident, he threatened her against telling anyone and forcibly obtained her mobile number.

The victim managed to escape and immediately informed her parents, who confronted Ravi Kumar and questioned about the incident. Ravi Kumar threatened them and started harassing the girl through missed calls. The parents then lodged a formal complaint with local police authorities.

Upon receiving the complaint, a case was registered against the Circle Inspector, and an investigation is currently underway. Though the incident took place earlier this month, the complaint was registered on October 22 night.

Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
