Man, 73, hospitalised after crash involving bus and car closes Fife road for over six hours

A 73-year-old man was taken to hospital and a 35-year-old woman charged with motoring offences after a crash involving a minibus and a car closed a Fife road for over six hours.

The minibus, understood to be carrying schoolchildren at the time, crashed into a field. triggering an emergency response.

The incident happened on the  B939 near Blebocraigs, at around 3pm on Friday.

Multiple emergency services, including police, paramedics, and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The road remained closed for over six hours.

The driver of the car, a 73-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for further treatment.

Nobody traveling in the minibus was injured.

A Scottish Charity Air Ambulance spokesperson said: “Our Perth crew received a call at 3pm regarding a RTC involving a minibus and a car.

“Paramedics assisted at the scene but no one was airlifted to hospital.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 2.55pm we were called to a crash involving a bus and a car on the B939 near Strathkinness.

“Emergency services attended, and the 73-year-old male driver of the car was taken to Ninewells Hospital as a precaution.

“There were no injuries reported from the bus.

“The road was closed and reopened around 9.30pm.

“A 35-year-old woman will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.”

Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
