Rick and Morty has officially been renewed up until Season 12 at Adult Swim, taking the series all the way to at least 2029. The Emmy-winning animated series has been greenlit for the next five season, with the eight arriving in 2025. Season 10’s renewal was only announced in 2023 and now, just a year later, the show has been announced for its 12th season.

The news comes from executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder who said announced it this week during its New York Comic Con panel. They were joined by series regulars Harry Belden, Ian Cardoni, Sarah Chalke, Spencer Grammer and Chris Parnell. In a statement from Michael Ouweleen, the preseident of Adult Swim, he said, “From Season One, Rick and Morty set a new standard in adult animation and has shown no signs of stopping. Dan, Scott and the rest of the immensely talented team behind Rick and Morty are constantly outdoing themselves and I’ll be joining the millions of fans around the world in looking forward to more adventures in the years to come.” Harmon also added, “Nobody wants a universe without Rick and Morty. Fortunately, the list of places to go remains infinite.”

The new season will continue to follow television’s favorite mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his timid grandson Morty Smith as they continue to take interdimensional adventures on Rick’s flying saucer. Harmon and Justin Roiland, who created the show, voiced Rick and Morty up until Roiland was fired in 2023 after he was charged with felony domestic battery and false imprisonment. While the criminal charges were later dropped, Roiland was replaced by Ian Cardoni as Rick and Harry Belden played Morty. Stay tuned on more information on the upcoming seasons.
