20 injured as bus carrying students skid off road in Kohima

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 9: In a tragic incident due to over speeding and reckless driving, at least 20 students and the driver of the bus of St. Joseph College, Jakhama, were injured as the vehicle skidded off road on National Highway-2, Kohima-Mao road today.

Sources said the incident occurred around 2 p.m. when the bus carrying 20-30 students of St Joseph College plunged around 40 feet below the main highway, while trying to overtake another vehicle near Dimori Cove Kigwema.

Sources said that around 20 of them sustained injuries with at least 8 of them admitted in different hospitals with serious injuries while the bus driver was in an unconscious state till the time of filing this report.

Sources said that the swift action of travelers and personnel of Zakhama Army Cantonment helped in the evacuation of the injured to Army Hospital from where at least 4 have been referred to Kohima.
