'Rugrats' to Get Live-Action/CGI Movie, 'SNL' Star Set As Co-Writer!

Get ready for another big screen go at the Rugrats!

The popular Nickelodeon animated series reportedly as a new live-action/CGI hybrid movie in the works at Paramount, Deadline reveals.

Saturday Night Live cast member Mikey Day is set to write the script with his writing partner, and fellow SNL writer Streeter Seidell. Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore is set to helm the movie.

Rugrats focuses on a group of toddlers, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, twins Phil and Lil DeVille, and Angelica Pickles, and their day-to-day lives that became adventures in their imaginations.

The original series premiered in 1991 and ran for nine seasons over 13 years. It also spawned three movies – The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats In Paris: The Movie and Rugrats Go Wild – as well as the more recent CG-animated reboot on Paramount+, which ran for two seasons.

News of a live-action Rugrats movie was first revealed all the way back in July 2018!
