When Kareena spoke on retirement

In an interview with once, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that as her fourth film (Asoka), her mother told her she wouldn't be able to better this performance. "I agree. I think I should retire," said Kareena. Further in the same interview, the actress opened up about doing such a challenging role at the beginning of her career. Kareena was quite proud to be a part of such a wonderful film and was happy to receive letters and flowers for her performance.

The actress said, "Every heroine today would give her right arm to do a film like Asoka. I consider myself lucky. When I went to the international festival, the kind of welcome we got was unbelievable. Everywhere we were given a standing ovation. And the audience wasn’t just Indian. There were people from all over the world cheering and clapping. Then there were so many Hollywood and British directors who came up to me to say I was mind-blowing. They couldn’t believe I was Indian."

Further, the Asoka star added how back home she also got heaps of compliments from filmmakers like Yash Johar, Yash Chopra, and others. Her colleagues, whom she never met, called her and sent her flowers. In the same interview with Subhash K Jha, Kareena expressed her joy of getting to work with her celebrity crush Shah Rukh Khan in the film. She said that she has never been confidence-deficient. Right from the beginning, she was completely drowned in her character. The actress believes she and SRK were dynamite together.
