Levin man charged with murder after 57-year-old killed

A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder after an assault in Levin on Thursday night.

Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said emergency services were called at 10.10pm after a 57-year-old was assaulted.

"Despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate the victim, he died shortly after at the scene," Sheridan said.

He said the arrested man would appear in Levin District Court on Friday and police were not currently looking for anyone else.
