State Highway 1 reopen after van catches fire north of Wellington

A section of Wellington's State Highway 1 has reopened following a van catching fire on Transmission Gully.

The van caught fire after the Mackays Crossing interchange north of Paekākāriki, closing the southbound lanes.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said the road had since opened to two lanes, but the left lane remained blocked following the fire.

Fire and Emergency said firefighters attended from three stations - Paraparaumu, Porirua, Paekakariki.

The spokesperson said there were no injuries.
