Haryana Assembly Election Result Live: It’s D-Day, and the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly Elections has begun. While exit polls predict a return to power for the Congress party after a decade, the incumbent BJP has rejected these forecasts, hoping to secure a hat-trick in the state assembly polls.

Key faces & seats: Voting for the 90 assembly constituencies took place on October 5, with a total voter turnout of 67.9%. The key parties in fray are the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and the alliances of INLD-BSP and JJP-Azad Samaj Party. Notable candidates to watch include Chief Minister Nayab Saini (Ladwa), Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Hooda (Garhi Sampla-Kiloi), INLD’s Abhay Chautala (Ellenabad), JJP’s Dushyant Chautala (Uchana Kalan), BJP’s Anil Vij (Ambala Cantt), and Congress’ Vinesh Phogat (Julan).

The Axis My India exit poll predicts that Congress is likely to secure between 53 and 65 seats, while Dainik Bhaskar forecasts a range of 44 to 54 seats for the party, with the BJP expected to win 15 to 29 seats. Haryana’s significance extends beyond its size; if these exit polls prove accurate and Congress reclaims the state from the BJP, it could generate momentum for the party in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, where elections are anticipated soon after Tuesday.
