Over 45 firefighters battle ongoing blaze in Antrim

A total of six fire appliances, one aerial appliance and 45 personnel are carrying out firefighting operations

More than 45 firefighters have been dispatched to help battle an ongoing blaze in Antrim on Sunday night.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the Dornans Road area in Lower Ballinderry, Lisburn and to keep windows closed as a precaution.

A total of six fire appliances, one aerial appliance and 45 personnel are carrying out firefighting operations, Belfast Live reports.

A Northern Ireland Fire And Rescue Service spokesperson said: “NIFRS crews are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Dornans Road, Lower Ballinderry.

"At present, there are six fire appliances, one aerial appliance and 45 personnel carrying out firefighting operations.

"We would advise members of the public to avoid the area for the next 2-3 hours and nearby homeowners to keep their windows and doors closed.”
