Gardai begin search of Dundalk house and garden in Kyran Durnin murder investigation

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Kyran Durnin are due to begin a search of house in Dundalk today.

Acting under a District Court Order, gardai took possession of the private property on Monday, which will be the subject of technical and forensic examinations, along with the garden and adjoining ground.

In a statement Gardai say the purpose of the searches is to discover any evidence which might provide them with information on Kyran's current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran.

He was reported missing on August 30th but the last known sighting of him was in May 2022.

Last Wednesday gardai announced they had launched a murder investigation for the 8 year old who is 'missing presumed dead'.

A Garda spokesman said this morning: "Gardaí in Louth investigating the disappearance of Kyran Durnin (8 years) continue to appeal to the public for information. Yesterday, Monday 21st October 2024, acting under a District Court Order, Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Kyran Durnin took possession of a private house in Dundalk.

"Commencing today, that house will be searched and be subject of technical and forensic examinations, as will the garden and adjoining ground to that house. The purpose of these searches are to discover any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyran's current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran."

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has any information in connection with the disappearance of Kyran to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 9874200 , the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666 111 or any Garda Station.
